The Joker Poster [HELP]

Image
"PUT ON A HAPPY FACE"

Kiss Of The Vampire [HELP]

Image
Carried and supported by the male character, typically like a damsel in distress. This was supported with the movies leading up to this time period where women were always seen as the character that needed rescuing. However the male character also has his hand up, suggesting he's protecting himself from something, which shows his vulnerability too. Guy on the bottom right on his knees and head back; quite submissive.  Her head is back which suggests vulnerability and a sense that she is being sexualized; tight dress too. DOES SHOW A SENSE OF OBJECTIFICATION This poster was a made in the 1960's; the time when women were starting to be objectified. A sexual revolution, with the introduction of abortion laws, marriage laws, contraception. They were given more freedom.  The tags of wives were no more, it was now girlfriends and partners. There was also a second wave of feminism that came into play at this time too, where women were made more powerful the before. Look...

TIDE POSTER [HELP]

Image
The image of the woman, a very typical 1950's fashion style with a full face of makeup. This was the trend, people like Veronica Lake, used to have this style. So this could have reflected what was popular in those times. The posters are quite idealised. (Perfect) as it creates an aspirational vision for the audiences. Hair pulled back shows readiness to do more practical work and so portrays women as more resourceful and physical; ready to do the difficult work going on. SYMBOLIC CODE OF HEARTS Women were expected to stay at home and be FULL TIME wives in the 1950's, so this is showing the stereotype of them loving cleaning ETC. The image of her is large in size and so makes her seem like she is powerful. Intertexual reference to a war time propaganda poster featuring Rosie The Riveter. The Advert reflects Van Zoonens theory that women are shown as quite domestic. It also challenges it too as it says that women are also quite sexualized but in this, they aren...

Representation of Feminism - 'Bad' Fragrance Advertisement and 'Formation'

"Feminism is the struggle to end sexist/patriarchal oppression", according to bell Hooks. i feel like formation is challenging patriarchal oppression due to the fact that the ubiquitous view is that males are at the top of the charts, both economically and socially, whilst females operate on the latter end. However, Beyonce is represented as powerful and dominant. She is the focused protagonist in the music video, grasping all the status and in one scene, she is surrounded by all male bodyguards; this shows her importance and that she must be protected at all costs. This is constructed by the men wearing all black suits; incredibly smart. Beyonce is also wearing quite professional clothing by just a little more exposed. The camera goes from left to right of the screen, highlighting all of the participants and showing the contrast in status between the males and Beyonce. Another things that subverts patriarchal oppression is a scene where Beyonce is lined up with all her ...

Evaluation Of Coursework

Evaluation The aim of my production is to shed light on the fundamental issues of society regarding animals and their ubiquitous safety. So the issue I’m trying to tackle and broadcast is the social issue of poaching that is actively going on in many countries. This cause many species to perish and disappear forever. Throughout the coursework, there have been many changes in interests and areas that I have focused on. The genre at first that I chose was Animals in general, then I switched to space and the unknown wonders it holds, since this is something that i find dearly engrossing. I was going to anchor the different indistinguishable features of looking at the milky way from the perspectives of the front cover and the double page spread. And in general that area of science in incredibly engaging. However now i have rerouted my attention on the topic of animals and have thought that there needs to be a message about it and not just a showcase of their beauty. Somethings needs ...

Magazine [SAME] Double Page and Front Cover Analysis

Image
It is clear that the magazine is exploring the wonders of the milky way and ultimately, the unknown of astronomy beyond the human vision. And so, therefore, the correlation of the front cover and the double page spread is that they both have indistinguishable features of looking at the milky way. The double page spread is giving instructions on how to observe, and the best way to capture the milky way; via using a tripod and the front cover is actively showing the milky way and giving you hints that this is the content that will be shown throughout the magazine. Therefore, the designers are making clear links to each other. On the front cover, there already is a mass amount of writing in small font; a verbal code and symbolic code (images of the universe), that portray what is going to be discovered within the magazine. Therefore, the fact that inside, the amount of writing and imagery there is are both plentiful is to be expected and understood. So the desi...

Explore representations of gender in "Riptide" (2013) [HELP]

Image
Explore representations of gender in " Riptide " ( 2013 ) Women in this music video are being portrayed as easily manipulated and sexually objectified due to the fact that there is a scene that shows the female character being dragged into the darkness, after that scene, it jump-cuts to her make-up being smeared, which shows that the physical abuse is taking a toll on her psychological health. Furthermore, as the music video goes on, the woman is shown to be  hypnotised shortly after in a different scene,  and then it jump-cuts to the makeup on the girls face getting even more messed up, suggesting that every time some sort of advantage is being taken from the woman and it is gradually degrading her inside, and her emotional strength is being damaged. This highlights a valuable and fundamental issue in society, maybe a gesticulation of domestic abuse and the effects this can have on the females, giving a chance to spread awareness on such issues. Women are being ...

Formation - Part 1 (Task 11c) - Dmitri and Gennyvie

Image
Q1. What is the intention of the 'Formation' video? The intention of the music video is to communicate the ubiquitous issues in society that they were  facing in America. For example, the New Orelands flooding and the rising racial tension, (bordering a slavery-type message). Beyonce was trying to tell the audience that there has to be a change and was ultimately just trying to spread awareness so that some action would be done to support the areas and victims involved in the unfortunate conundrums. Q2. How has it been received by audiences and critics  According to multiple comments, Beyonce has managed to make many people, (from both genders) feel empowered and ultimately much more independent, giving them much more confidence and therefore, it is clear that she is successfully carrying out her purpose and is influencing many people positively within society. The video has racked up over 180 million views and has up to 1.3 million likes versus only 63 thous...

Magazine Front Cover analysis

At home with he king of the wild Frontier Jack white' magazine cover portrays more names in the cover than anything else. Things that stand out are his name mostly since its the biggest item on the magazine and the other names placed around his picture. The colour scheme is Red, Black, Blue, White. Since May 22, Yemen has used the simple tricolour: black is said to stand for the dark days of the past. White represents a bright future and red, the blood of the struggle to achieve independence and unity. Similar flags have been used by: Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and The Sudan. Representation Jack White is being portrayed as pretty serious and dark due to his facial expressions and the clothes he is wearing. His stance also suggests some sort of high status and dominance. Audience The audience seems like it may be the adults or older generation. Anyone interested in the global issues of society due to the fact that one of the things planted on the magazine includes,...

Contrast and Similarities of "We find love/blessed(Daniel Caesar)" and Sicko mode (Travis Scott)" - Dmitri and Gennyvie

Image
Our contrasting music video Contrast and Similarities of "We find love/blessed(Daniel Caesar)" and Sicko mode (Travis Scott)" Differences One difference is that in " Sicko mode ", it displays the representations of mostly black people in different areas of evident poverty. Whereas, in " we find love/blessed ", the level of portrayal in terms of race is equal; there are no injustices' in how long each type of person has on the camera . Furthermore, another difference is that the way the genders are being perceived are completely different too because, the women in " sicko mode " are being displayed as axiomatically quite materialistic and like their only purpose is to flaunt their cleavage, extremely sexual behaviour. Whereas, in " We find love/blessed ", the woman being shown is quite caring and loving and ultimately has some personality that is being shown, a much more positive outcome. In addition, the males in both cli...

Daniel Caesar - We find love/blessed [official video] Analysis - Dmitri and Gennyvie

Image
Our chosen music video  Daniel Caesar - We find love/blessed [official video] Analysis Audience - The audience may be the adult/middle aged community due to the fact that the video itself is presented quite old and vintage-like despite being composed only 2 years ago. This suggests that the quality was inserted purposefully, since the technology would have been there to make it more modern and up to date. Genre   - The genre of music may be "Jazz" due to the type of instrumental and the : delicate, moving, sweeping and slow tempo of the artists voice and the instrumental.  Representation   - The male character is portrayed as a gentleman and ultimately a happy person. This is clearly depicted when he is hugging the girl in the back of his car and they are laughing and having fun. (01:05). The female is also portrayed as happy too and overall confident with herself when she is enjoying the views and dancing out in the open. Free.  Extra inform...
