Formation - Part 1 (Task 11c) - Dmitri and Gennyvie
The intention of the music video is to communicate the ubiquitous issues in society that they were facing in America. For example, the New Orelands flooding and the rising racial tension, (bordering a slavery-type message). Beyonce was trying to tell the audience that there has to be a change and was ultimately just trying to spread awareness so that some action would be done to support the areas and victims involved in the unfortunate conundrums.
Q2. How has it been received by audiences and critics
According to multiple comments, Beyonce has managed to make many people, (from both genders) feel empowered and ultimately much more independent, giving them much more confidence and therefore, it is clear that she is successfully carrying out her purpose and is influencing many people positively within society. The video has racked up over 180 million views and has up to 1.3 million likes versus only 63 thousands dislikes, (20 times more people liked it) axiomatically stating that a lot of people liked the music video and so it has been received well by the audience and critics.
Q3. Which issues have created the differing ideas of the film?
Many of the references are related to the New Orelands flooding and racial tension in America. These different epidemics have allowed the creator of the video to make different scenes that link to these social issues. For example, a sinking police car right in the middle of what is being portrayed as a artificial flood, to show this.
